Reiki
Reiki ("ray-kee") is a laying on of hands; a touch-healing system of incomparable ease and power. It means "universal life force energy". The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct. When experiencing pain, the first thing most people do is to put their hands on it. Human touch conveys warmth, serenity, and healing. It also conveys caring and love.

The living body, human or animal, radiates warmth and energy. This energy life force has as many names as there are human civilizations, such as Chi, Prana and Ki, from which Reiki is named. Everything alive contains Ki and radiates it — it is the biomagnetic energy of the aura.

In the life force energy of Reiki, the person who is attuned as a Reiki healer has had her body’s energy channels opened and cleared of obstructions by the Reiki attunements. Each attunement increases the positive power of her ability to channel Ki. It is the attunements themselves that are Reiki. There are three levels of attunement. As a Reiki II healer, the amount of healing energy I’ve received has been increased to include emotional, mental and karmic healing. It also added the tools for doing healing with someone not physically present.

History & Usage
The traditional Reiki story begins in the mid-1800’s with Mikao Usui, who spent years seeking the origins of Jesus’ and the Buddha’s method of healing and found them in the ancient remnants of Shiva’s early culture, in the esoteric teachings of India.

Reiki relieves pain, speeds the healing process, stops bleeding, relaxes the receiver and balances their chakras and aura energy. Respiration slows during a Reiki session and blood pressure lowers; emotional calming occurs. Reiki is totally positive and can never cause harm to any living thing. If one is ill, in pain or emotional distress, Reiki helps. If one is healthy, Reiki relaxes and rejuvenates.

Side Effects & Treatment Plans
Sometimes after a healing or during a series of healings detoxification occurs. Diarrhea, skin rash, running nose or excessive perspiration are sometimes seen. This is a release of dis-ease causing toxins and should be supported rather than stopped. A detox may last a few days. What distinguishes a detox from illness is that the person or pet does not feel sick. Eat lightly and drink fluids to aid in the release.

Reiki may be done in-person or through distance healing. For chronic issues, weekly to monthly treatments are recommended.

While all modalities used offer you a choice of alternative treatments for your pet, in no way should they ever replace quality veterinary input & care.
