This horse is receiving his first treatment with TPM.

Triggerpoint Myotherapy (TPM)
TPM involves hands-on techniques to relieve the discomfort associated with constricted muscles. The "knots" we all experience in our shoulders, for example, are known as triggerpoints (TP’s). Through palpation, compression and stretching of the muscle bodies, we increase range of motion, flexibility and reduce pain. TP’s are typically created by an excess of lactic or glycolic acid formed from overexertion, injury or strain. The use of compression and stretching breaks up the acid formation and flushes it through the circulatory system.

Whether or not your companion animal is with you for pleasure or for show, muscle dysfunction will arise due to various precipitating factors. Left untreated, muscle tissue will weaken through atrophy and compensatory dysfunction will arise as other muscles try to compensate where damaged muscles have given up.

 Testimonial
"I often encourage my clients to supplement my chiropractic care with Sue's complimentary techniques. Result? Animals get better faster and hold their adjustments longer."
Sherry Gaber, DC (AVCA)

How Treatments Are Done
First visits require an extensive evaluation and history to determine the correct course for treatment. Recent veterinary records are needed to assure us that there are no underlying medical reasons that would interfere with TPM. Nutritional counseling is also a major component to overall health and is also addressed during your first appointment.

While all modalities used offer you a choice of alternative treatments for your pet, in no way should they ever replace quality veterinary input & care.
